T.C. Carson was fired from Living Single in 1998, but despite being ‘written off’, the actor continues to act 24 years later.


Terrence C. Carson, sometimes known as TC Carson, has been involved in Hollywood for the past 32 years. Thus, he is not new to this, but he is consistent with this. According to TC Carson, it was nearly impossible for him to become Kyle Barker. After his audition, he claims that producers told him “thanks, but no thanks.” Two days later, however, he received a surprise phone call from producers, who invited him back for a screen test.

Viewers grew to admire TC Carson as Kyle Barker since he remained in the role from the pilot episode until a point in season four. Then, abruptly, the suave, debonair, and witty character disappeared, save for a brief return later in the fifth season. According to the actor’s interview with Comedy Hype, he was “fired” from the show less than two minutes after his going to London episode aired.
TC Carson disclosed that the cast would address various issues with the producers, but he acted as the spokesperson. He revealed that producers eventually contacted him with the expectation that he could prevent the cast from discussing issues. TC Carson stated, “Even now, if you are African-American, you must keep your mouth shut and do your job.” He was referring to many Hollywood producers who view the outspokenness of Black performers and actresses as “ego.”

Even though Carson’s time on Living Single had ended, his job was far from over. In the 1997 action movie Gang Connected, he co-starred with James Belushi and Tupac Shakur. The next year, he starred in Relax… It’s Only Sex, an independent educational romantic comedy. In 1999, the actor returned to television with an appearance on The Jamie Foxx Show. Finally, in the year 2000, TC Carson starred in the critically acclaimed picture U-571. He was also cast in 2003’s Last Destination 2, adding another lucrative film to his resume.

As a voice actor, TC Carson gained great success in the field of animation. He has recurrent roles on Rugrats and Clifford the Big Red Dog, in addition to Life With Louie.
