Throughout the course of a typical day, I find myself in a variety of predicaments that cause me to ponder, “What would Cookie Lyon do?” After all, the character of Empire, who is portrayed wonderfully by Taraji P. Henson, is the boss to end all bosses, and I have no doubt that she would have the answer to any problem that life throws my way. And if we’re being completely honest, so would Tyler Perry: When I feel like I want to swan dive away from my problems, I should talk to the acclaimed writer, director, and producer since he knows a thing or two about drama and would know how to put things in perspective for me.
The combination of Henson and Perry creates the best possible life guru team. Sincerity compels me to admit that these two, with their combined intelligence and ferocity, are capable of finding a solution to any situation. They demonstrated this fact earlier this month when they delivered life advise to complete strangers on Twitter for an original film produced by Glamour. Yup.
The two opened up about a wide range of issues, discussing anything from their romantic lives to their favorite foods and even how they would spend their final day on earth. Even though this may come across as morbid, trust me when I tell that Perry’s response to the topic, as well as some of the other things that he and Henson say, are actually pretty uplifting. Who knew that these two were so knowledgeable on the proportion of nuts to raisins that should be present in trail mix? (Spoiler alert: According to Perry, you should throw out your mixture if it contains more than fifty percent raisins. To tell you the truth, I concur.)
