Naturi Naughton and Lil Kim had a poor relationship. Kim has directed her fury over the film towards Naturi, even though she is just an actress playing her. Kim blames Naughton for her awful screen image.

In the late 2000s, Naturi Naughton was the 3LW ex-girlfriend. When Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams became famous with The Cheetah Girls, Naughton started again as a New York actress. Her Broadway Hairspray part came from hard labour. Naughton broke success in 2009 when she starred in the Fame remake and sang the theme song. She also played Lil Kim in a Notorious B.I.G biopic that year.
Throughout

the years, Naughton has said that she knew little about Kim or rapping and did not think she was a suitable fit for the character. She passed her audition after hard work. Fans love the film, but Lil Kim is one of its biggest detractors. After taking it personally for a few years, Naughton says she was just hired to play a role and had nothing against Kim.

Kim has long criticised Naturi’s portrayal. Kim told Necole Bitchie years ago that the movie misrepresented her relationship with Biggie. This movie misrepresented me. I loved BIG, and he loved me. “I was never a JUMP-OFF,” she bemoaned.

Kim also criticised the casting procedure and how she was not consulted. I wouldn’t have chosen Naturi—no she’s Lil Kim! She looks nothing like me then. No similarities.” Kim dubbed Naturi “tasteless and talentless” with “dreadful” acting. Kim objected about Naturi not seeking her approval for the position. Kim claims a “real” actress would have.

That warned me she wasn’t right for the part, and Naturi is one of the worst actresses I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe they chose her. I can’t!” Kim says the filmmakers also skimmed her payments, forcing her to hire lawyers. Kim admits the movie was more about Faith and Ms. Wallace than her.
Lil Kim has never praised Naturi Naughton. The actress has addressed the topic several times, always respecting Lil Kim’s opinion.
