Fans of the smash hit movie “I Am Legend” from 2007 will be thrilled to hear that the production of a sequel is currently underway. The upcoming film’s producer, Akiva Goldsman, has just recently divulged some significant information about the project, including the fact that it will use the alternative ending of the film that came out first.

Goldsman explained the plot of the upcoming sequel, which will be based on the original book written by Richard Matheson, in an interview with Deadline. The first film was adapted from Matheson’s novel. He stated, “What Matheson was talking about was that the time on the planet for man to reign as the preeminent species had reached its conclusion.” That is going to be something that we will have the opportunity to investigate, and it is a very interesting topic.

Goldsman also revealed that the new movie will take place a few decades after the events of the first one, and that he was inspired by the HBO series “The Last of Us” to explore what occurs when humans are no longer the primary tenants of the planet. He said that the new movie will be called “The Last of Us: Part II.” Michael B. Jordan will also be joining the team as a producer; however, it is currently unknown how his involvement will play into the overall narrative of the project.

Fans of the first film can anticipate returning to the post-apocalyptic world and witnessing how it has developed, despite the fact that there are currently very few details available. And with Goldsman on board, who will also be writing the upcoming revival of “Constantine,” the ride is certain to be an exciting one.
