Marlons Wayans, one of Howell’s 10 famous offspring, confirmed the tragedy on Instagram on Saturday and paid tribute to his father. Marlon remembered asking his father what he wanted to be.
“He said ‘I wanted to be a man.’” Wayans captioned. “Not a lawyer?” A doctor? An actor? He said ‘just a dude.’ But, every boy becomes a man. Dad denied it. ‘Then what’s a man?’ “A man takes care of himself and his duties,” my father stated. He puts family first. I wanted to be a man after that.
The 50-year-old comedian and actor hailed his “Pop” for “being an example of a Man to all your lads.” He said, “I got two angels. You’re elevating me already. If there’s a heaven, I’ll find you in VIP drinking Jesus’ best wine.”
“Love to you and the family,” said comedian D.L. Hughley. He ruled men. His family legacy shows it.”
Elvira Wayans died July 2020. Aged 81. Howell’s cause of death was not revealed, like Elvira’s.
Howell and Elvira’s 10 children—Keenen Ivory, Damon, Shawn, Marlon, Dwayne, Kim, Nadia, Elvira, Diedre, and Vonnie—were raised in New York City. The Wayans Bros., a five-season WB smash, featured their work in front of and behind the camera.
The Wayans family was involved with Scary Movie, In Living Color, Don’t Be a Menace, and White Chicks.
