Ashanti is once again under scrutiny—this time from Chris Gotti, brother of the late Irv Gotti, who says the singer has unfairly minimized the role Irv and Murder Inc. played in her career.
On the “Let’s Keep it 100 Podcast,” Chris Gotti said bluntly:
“She says they wasn’t in a relationship. They was in a relationship. I was they therapist. Like come on now, don’t do that.”
He acknowledged that Irv Gotti could be “too far” in public comments, but insisted his brother was simply answering questions and being “a straight shooter.”
While praising Ashanti for still speaking well of Irv Gotti, Chris Gotti took issue with her distancing from the label.
“For her to act like it ain’t Murder Inc. that made her is f**king bulls**t… Respect the magic that was made.”
Ashanti has consistently disputed the nature of their past connection. In 2022, she said:
“We’re not gonna say relationship. We dealt with each other…Irv had several girlfriends.”
She called Irv Gotti’s narrative “flat-out lies,” adding:
“I definitely feel like manipulation played a heavy part…He would say stuff like, ‘Nobody even likes you.’”
Reflecting back, Ashanti said:
“Pillow talk is a dangerous thing…I don’t play in the mud.”
