When he passed away, he was 61 years old.

The actor, who was well-known for his parts in popular crime dramas including Homicide: Life on the Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, passed away on Monday following an illness, a representative for the cast tells PEOPLE.

Braugher received two Emmy nominations for his role as the diabetic father on the TNT series Men of a Certain Age, Owen Thoreau Jr. Alongside Scott Bakula and Ray Romano, he co-starred in the programme. Throughout his career, he had received eleven nominations.

In 1998, he received his first Emmy for his performance in Homicide: Life on the Street as Frank Pembleton. It was presented to the lead character in a suspenseful television series. Again, he triumphed in 2006 for Thief.

That seems like a fantastic topic for a group discussion on any police drama.

“I
learned to never stop asking questions until I figured out the main idea of the scene.” I concur that was excellent. Then to revisit his earlier work? How incredible, how unbelievable. He is hilarious, hardworking, and all three at the same time. Half of his accomplishment is what I hope to achieve in this field of work. I have a lot of luck.

“I am grateful for your friendship, kindness, guidance, and life.” At this extremely difficult time, please know that my wife and I are deeply sorry for your loss. You taught me how to enjoy myself. Oh, Andre, I hope you’re at peace now. “I love you, man. 😢❤”
