The actor, who was well-known for his parts in popular crime dramas including Homicide: Life on the Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, passed away on Monday following an illness, a representative for the cast tells PEOPLE.
Braugher received two Emmy nominations for his role as the diabetic father on the TNT series Men of a Certain Age, Owen Thoreau Jr. Alongside Scott Bakula and Ray Romano, he co-starred in the programme. Throughout his career, he had received eleven nominations.
