Tom Hanks, an experienced actor, thinks he can think of the perfect person to play the legendary role of James Bond on the big screen now that Daniel Craig has stepped down from the role and moved on from the James Bond franchise.

During a recent interview with the BBC, the legendary actor, who is 66 years old and well known for his appearances in films such as “Castaway” and “Forrest Gump,” expressed his thoughts on a variety of topics. The topic of discussion ranged from his distinguished career to his soon-to-be-published first novel.

Hanks, who has won the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor thrice, is getting ready to publish his book titled “The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece,” which gets its motivation from his personal experience in the film industry. In 2018, he started working on the book that would eventually include 448 pages, telling the BBC, “I wrote in between films, I wrote wherever I was, I wrote on planes, I wrote at home, I wrote while I was on vacation, I wrote in hotel rooms, and I wrote on long weekends when I wasn’t working.”

The topic of conversation eventually circled back around to the question of who could be able to take over for Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. The fictitious British secret agent with the codename 007 made his first appearance in the world of literature in the early 1950s in the espionage novels written by Ian Fleming. The cinematic adventure of the character began in the 1960s, and since then, a number of performers like Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig have taken on the coveted role.

The recent report that another James Bond movie might be in the works has stoked intense rumors and conjecture regarding the next person to play the role. The casting process for the character of the smooth spy, who was noted for his love for “shaken, not stirred” martinis, requires a lot of attention to detail. On the other hand, it looks like Hanks has made up his decision about something.

Hanks stated to the BBC that “understand this,” which translates to “James Bond has a license to kill.” Idris Elba has demonstrated to me that he is deserving of that license, and as a result, I would grant it to him. It’s not just Tom Hanks who thinks Idris Elba would be a good choice for the role of James Bond; in 2021, Pierce Brosnan, a former actor who played Bond, voiced his enthusiasm for Elba by saying, “Idris Elba comes to mind. Idris exudes such a commanding presence and possesses a voice that is both impressive and intimidating in equal measure. He would be wonderful in every way.

Another prospective option was highlighted by Brosnan when he stated, “There’s Tom Hardy out there as well. Both Tom and John are capable of tearing the furniture to shreds and playing the role of ball boy.

Even if there is more and more talk about Idris Elba taking over the role of James Bond, the choice to cast him in the role ultimately lies with the actor himself. Elba has been quoted in the past as saying, “It is not a goal for my career,” indicating that he has some reservations about taking on the role. I don’t believe that playing Bond will help me achieve some of my own ambitions, if you know what I mean. He also questioned whether the public’s overwhelming desire for him to play Bond was founded on the appeal of seeing a Black man take on the legendary character for the first time. This prompted a deeper inquiry into the reasons behind the belief that the public had such a strong want for him to play Bond.
