Mea Culpa is the new film that Emmy and Honorary Oscar winner Tyler Perry (A Jazzman’s Blues) will release on Netflix. Kelly Rowland (Think Like a Man), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Sean Sagar (The Gentlemen), Nick Sagar (The Princess Switch trilogy), and RonReaco Lee (Nappily Ever After) have all been cast in the film.

In the movie that Perry wrote, directed, and produced, the protagonist is a criminal defence attorney who, in the hopes of becoming partner at his firm, agrees to represent an artist who may or may not have been responsible for the murder of his girlfriend. Other people who are going to be producing the album are Angi Bones, Will Areu, and Rowland.

Following Six Triple Eight, A Fall From Grace, A Madea Homecoming, and A Jazzman’s Blues, as well as Adam McKay’s end-of-the-world comedy Don’t Look Up, in which Perry appeared as a member of the ensemble, Mea Culpa will be Perry’s fifth feature film to be released on Netflix. Kerry Washington is executive producing and starring in the new drama “Six Triple Eight,” which just started filming a month ago. The film tells the true story of the only all-Black, all-female World War II Battalion, and the story is based on actual events.


Rowland is a winner of both the Grammy Award and the Billboard Music Award, but she is most well-known for her role in the formation of the girl group Destiny’s Child, which she co-founded with Beyoncé and Michelle Williams. She has a history of acting, having portrayed roles in movies such as “The Curse of Bridge Hollow,” “Bad Hair,” “Think Like a Man,” and “Freddy vs. Jason,” amongst others. She has also appeared in the past on a variety of television series, such as “The Equalizer,” “L.A.’s Finest,” “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” “American Soul,” and “Empire,” to name a few.

Rhodes has appeared in a number of films, including Bruiser, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Bird Box, The Predator, and 12 Strong, and he has won an Independent Spirit Award for his work. However, he is most well-known for his role in Moonlight, which won the award for Best Picture and was directed by Barry Jenkins. He most recently played Mike Tyson in the miniseries Mike, which is available on Hulu, and he has also appeared on shows such as Westworld.

Sean Sagar is an actor who has appeared in a variety of projects in the past, including movies like Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen and television series like Fate: The Winx Saga and Top Boy. One of the other upcoming projects is an action-thriller directed by Guy Ritchie called The Covenant.

Nick, Sagar’s brother, starred in Netflix’s The Princess Switch holiday films, and he is best known for his work on series such as Run the World, The Haves and the Have Nots, Shadowhunters, and Queen of the South. These films were released during the holiday season.

Coffee & Kareem and Nappily Ever After are two of Lee’s films that have been released on Netflix. First Wives Club, Queens, and Survivor’s Remorse are just a few of her recent television credits.

Perry is a film and television powerhouse who has previously directed features in the Madea franchise, among many others, in addition to creating series like Sistas and The Oval. Perry has also previously helmed features in other film franchises.
