First Look at Brandy and Paolo Montalban Reprising Their Roles From “Cinderella” in Disney+’s “Descendants: The Rise of Red” — Brandy and Paolo Montalban will be playing the roles of Malvolio and Drizella. Cinderella Hive, it’s time to rise once more now that 26 years have passed!

Paolo Montalban, who played Prince Charming (also known as “Prince Christopher Rupert”) in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Brandy, will reprise his role in Descendants: The Rise of Red on the Disney Channel. Brandy will star alongside Paolo Montalban (formerly known as The Pocketwatch). The announcement comes several months after it was made public that Brandy would be repeating her role as Cinderella. With this announcement, it will have been 26 years since the two have been on film together.
Now that he’s grown up, the Prince is known as King Charming, and he co-rules his realm with Cinderella. Together, they are quite the power couple. Malia Baker plays the role of their daughter Chloe in the show. “is as much in love with Cinderella as he ever was,” the description states, referring to King Charming’s feelings towards Cinderella.


The events of the Descendants films take place in a fantastical realm that is composed of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. Auradon is home to many of our greatest fairytale heroes and heroines, while the Isle of the Lost is where many of our favourite storybook villains reside. The new movie includes a third setting, which is described as “the unfriendly, unincorporated territory of Wonderland.” This is the area where Alice is known to get lost.

In the movie Descendants: The Rise of Red, Chloe and the daughter of the Queen of Hearts are coerced into working together in order to save Auradon. The role of Red is played by Kylie Cantrall, and Rita Ora takes on the role of Red’s mother, the Queen of Hearts. The following, as stated in the description:

The plot of Descendants: The Rising of Red focuses on Red, who is the headstrong offspring of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, who is Cinderella’s daughter who strives for perfection in everything she does. As the despotic Queen of Hearts instigates a revolution against Auradon, polar opposites Red and Chloe are forced to join forces and journey back in time in order to reverse the horrific event that led Red’s mother down the path to becoming a villain.

Kylie Cantrall, China Anne McClain, Dara Reneé, Ruby Rose Turner, Morgan Dudley, Melanie Paxson, Jeremy Swift, and Leonardo Nam round out the rest of the cast.

From a script written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer, Jennifer Phang directs and also serves as a co-executive producer on the project. Also, Gary Marsh and Suzanne Todd serve in the executive producing roles. Production designer Mark Hofeling is also back for another installment in the series. A date for the public screening of the movie has not yet been announced.
