LisaRaye recently resorted to social media to share the devastating news of her mother Katie McCoy’s loss. LisaRaye revealed that her mother had passed on the previous evening, leaving her feeling numb and unable to cope with her loss.
While LisaRaye has not disclosed the cause of her mother’s passing, in her announcement she did express her tremendous love and appreciation for her. LisaRaye stated that her mother had taught her to be strong, but she was currently finding it difficult to do so. She vowed to commemorate her mother’s life and treasure the memories they shared.
In 1967, Katie McCoy and her husband David Ray McCoy had a daughter named LisaRaye. David Ray McCoy went suddenly in 1988, and LisaRaye was profoundly touched by his passing. She actually made a bargain with him to commit suicide if he died before her. After his passing, she attempted suicide by crashing her car into a tree.
In the 2020 edition of Iyanla’s Repair My Life, LisaRaye and her mother Katie’s troubled relationship was emphasized. LisaRaye’s tight relationship with her late father caused discord between the mother and daughter, who had difficulty seeing eye-to-eye. Despite their differences, they had an immense amount of affection for one another.
The mother-daughter combo appeared to be in a much better place years after the episode. LisaRaye and her mother had resolved their differences, and LisaRaye expressed her affection for her mother on Instagram with the hashtags #MothersLove and #MissYouSoMuch.
