A health concern that he had at the beginning of this year has been something that he has recently discussed with the general public. Willie was forced to call off his headlining performance at Jazz Fest after a member of his family returned a positive test for COVID-19 while they were on tour.
In later revelations, it came to light that Willie himself had become infected with the virus and was suffering from difficulty breathing. He was given treatment that included the use of a nebulizer for his asthma and monoclonal antibodies, despite the fact that his advanced age made him more susceptible to illness.
Willie made a speedy recovery and was back on the road performing just two weeks after his initial hospitalisation. Together with other well-known musicians, he and his family will be among the headliners at the 2022 Farm Aid Music Festival, which will be held in North Carolina.
