Seniors in high school honor an Air Force veteran during a funeral


In brief: Ralph Lambert was a retired US Air Force veteran, and when he passed away, a group of high school seniors stepped in to honor him as no family or friends could attend his funeral. Serving from 1950 to 1971, Lambert died in Louisiana at the age of 94.

Specifics: After learning of Lambert’s predicament, local high school baseball coach Jordan Marks gathered six Menard High School seniors to help carry his coffin. Marks stated, “I try to teach them the game of life as well as the game of baseball.” At Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, the students Ashton Veade, Cameron Kinder, Jacob Giordano, Jackson Ford, Ashton Brodnax, and Hunter Foster carried Lambert’s flag-draped casket.

conclusion, the pupils thought it was an honor to take part. “Being able to go out there with someone who didn’t have family or friends was an honor for us seniors,” Jacob Giordano said. This act demonstrated that no veteran should be buried alone and guaranteed Lambert a decent send-off.
