Vice President Kamala Harris almost gave a call to Sonya Massey’s family, who was shot by police. According to media accounts, the former prosecutor’s thoughtful call helped her relatives feel better.

According to reports, the Massey family was appreciative that Harris reached out to them following the tragic death of their loved one.

As the media has already reported, Sonya called 911 to report what she believed to be a break-in, and then ex-police officer Sean Grayson shot and killed her in her house.

Kamala

“gave her heartfelt condolences,” according to Sonya’s father. That day, he claimed it “made [him] feel a lot better.” Massey’s father also revealed that the 59-year-old stated that “senseless killing must stop” and that “she was 100% with them.”
Additionally, he conveyed Kamala’s apprehension regarding the recruitment and rotation of law enforcement personnel. Her goal is to put an end to the officers’ “job-hopping” behavior. According to Harris, their transfer from one department to the next, “being died around in order to save money,” is unacceptable.

Additionally, he mentioned that Kamala addressed the issue of “being able to leave one department and get hired by another.” And [Sonya] would still be alive if that stopped.

Malachi Hill, Sonya’s son, stated he cried while Kamala was speaking. Later on, he said, “I became very emotional.” I mean, I’m not sure. I broke down in tears. This is insane, just like this. To be really honest, I have no words for this.

Furthermore,

Shadia Massey, Sonya Massey’s cousin, stated that the call “meant the world to my family right now.” “It definitely broke every last one of us down,” the woman declared. This particular call meant the very most to our family out of all the thousands of messages, phone calls, and inboxes.

“It was her voice for me,” she continued. “[Taking] time out of her busy schedule to just make that one little phone call to our family, that meant the world to me,” left Shadia perplexed.
