On the occasion of her son’s birthday, one year after he passed away, Regina King paid a touching tribute to him.
The relationship between Ian and his mother was very strong, and he was on the rise as a musician and a social media influencer. Since his passing, Regina has spent the majority of the time away from the spotlight, but she has recently reemerged to pay tribute to his memory. Regina reflected on the positive influence that he had on her life by referring to his birthday as his “Worthday” in a post that she published on one of her social media accounts.
After keeping quiet for the past 12 months following the passing of Regina King’s son, Ian Jr., the actress has decided to speak out about the tragedy. The untimely passing of Regina’s son shattered her world, and she was left in a state of utter devastation as a result. Regina sent out a heartfelt message of encouragement and confidence to all of her devoted followers on the occasion of what would have been Ian’s 27th birthday.
“While we are still working through the emotional fallout of his physical absence, we celebrate his presence. “Ian is also spread out across the globe,” Regina wrote in the post. “All of us are in different locations.” A glowing orange lantern could be seen ascending into the night sky in the accompanying video to the message. It was explained to Ian by Regina that his favourite colour was orange, and she said, “Of course, orange is your favourite colour… It’s both the storm and the stillness. I can feel your presence in the air that I take in. The aspect of myself that I am most proud of is the fact that I am Regina, the mother of Ian, the God King.
The comments section was inundated with messages of love and support for Regina from her supporters and friends. Niecy Nash, one of Regina’s closest friends, wrote in an open letter, “My friend. I have frequent thoughts of you. In the midst of your suffering and loss, I will never stop saying prayers for your strength and peace. I love you 🧡🧡🧡” In the meantime, the award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay recited a moving poem about oranges.
