Sincere friendship is best for everyone. How well they know each other, their tolerance, and their willingness to sustain friendship will determine its longevity. We highlight the 78-year friendship of Kathleen Saville and Olive Woodward, two mischievous ladies. They met at 11 in 1941 and are now 89. Their comparable sense of mischief and humour, which has never caused problems, is what bonds them.

Their amazing form proves that laughter is the best medicine. In 2018, Kathleen relocated to Mansfield, Berry Hill’s English Park, and Olive followed a few months later, realising they had been through a lot together, especially since they were both widows.

As they share a nursing home floor, they can spend more time together.

Olive visited Kathleen every Saturday for lunch before moving to the nursing home. They laugh and cherish every time together. They laugh at every hardship because they can do it together. Kathleen says they dress seductively and giggle like schoolgirls. They lived by “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.”
The facility administration loves them, calling Kathleen a “great flirt” and Oliva more reserved. Manager Sally Tebbett sees them as a spark since they are still full of mischief and never stop talking and giggling.

Their true and compassionate friendship deserves respect, and they say they will always be best friends in heaven.
