Rebecca attends her ex-husband Marcus’s company gala, where he publicly humiliates her and orders security to remove her.

Marcus believes Rebecca is a nobody who depended on him during their marriage.

But before she can leave, Chairman Harrison Cole arrives and orders the guards to release her.

“She’s my successor.”

The entire ballroom is stunned. Harrison reveals that Rebecca has secretly helped rebuild two failing divisions of Vantage Meridian and has been chosen as the company’s next CEO.

But Rebecca has another reason for returning.

She has evidence that Marcus, a senior vice president, secretly diverted $11 million through his girlfriend Celeste’s company and a hidden business he controlled.

He planned to blame two junior employees if the fraud was discovered.

Rebecca presents the evidence to the board. Independent auditors confirm the transactions, Marcus is suspended, and Celeste realizes she was deceived as well.

Marcus accuses Rebecca of revenge, but she calmly tells him, “You leaving me was painful. Fraud was your choice.”

Marcus is eventually fired and later sentenced for fraud. The innocent employees are cleared, while Celeste cooperates with investigators.

Rebecca becomes CEO and leads Vantage to its strongest year in a decade.

She never celebrates Marcus’s downfall. Her real victory is building a successful life he can no longer control.

The man who once ordered her removed from the room had no idea that she would soon be the person in charge of it.
