Congratulations are in order for John and Charlotte Henderson, who have been been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as being the oldest married couple in the history of the world.
Together, John and Charlotte have a total age of 211, and they recently celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary. John is 106 years old, while Charlotte is 105 years old.

Longhorn Village Retirement Home, the assisted living facility at where the charming couple is currently residing, provided the wonderful pair with food and champagne to help them celebrate this tremendous accomplishment.

To get things started for the anniversary, John reenacted the couple’s very first date, which took place in the 1930s and consisted of his picking Charlotte up in a roadster from the 1920s and giving her a bunch of flowers.

In addition, residents of the retirement community, together with their friends and family, were given a slideshow presentation of photographs depicting the long, weird, and enchanted journey that they have taken together over the past eight decades.
How were they able to keep their relationship going for such a long time without growing tired of one another? How on earth could they even survive for such a significant amount of time? They joked that perhaps it was the reduced level of stress caused by not having children.

Their great nephew, Jason Free, is the one who submitted the application to the Guinness Book of Records in order for his great uncle and great aunt to be recognised as the ‘Oldest Living Couple’ in the world.
According to what Jason had to say about them in an interview, “They are most definitely a very happy couple who are always together., travel together, and lived life to the fullest together.”

When did they first get together? While John was attending The University of Texas in 1933, Charlotte was one of his classmates.

While she was getting her education to become a teacher, her future life partner, John, was out on the field for the college football team.

Six years later, in 1939, they began dating, and by the time World War II broke out, they were married.

They decided to spend their honeymoon in San Antonio, where the average price of a hotel room was only $7 per night.

John is not only a member of the oldest couple in the world, but he is also the oldest UT football player that is still living.

He continues to be a devoted fan and attends each year’s competitions as he always has.
With the advent of cellphones and personal computers, the world has undergone a transformation that has rendered it completely unrecognisable.

Even entire nations and empires have risen and gone during this span of time, but despite this, their love and marriage have remained as unshakeable as Mount Rushmore.
What was their strategy? John said, “Always live moderately, and be kind to your spouse,” as his response.

Other from that, the pair has committed to resolving any arguments that may arise before going to bed. John also makes it a point to obtain some form of physical activity every day.

On the evening before Christmas, John also celebrated his 107th birthday. May you have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous new year together, you two!

We have high hopes that every marriage will turn out just like theirs did. It is without a doubt an amazing tale.
